Can You Guess What Makes Grace So Durable?

God’s grace is a very familiar idea and reality known, recognized and accepted among the body of believers. Given the faulty nature inherited by all mankind after Adam and Eve’s initiation of man’s fall, we lean and depend on grace each and every day. It is the grace issued forth by our Heavenly Father that saves our souls. Is is grace that grants forgiveness for even repeat offenses against His Word. It is by His grace that we receive blessings even when we do not deserve them, but have you ever considered what makes God’s grace so powerful, so durable, and so valuable? This brings us to our key text coming out of Colossians 1: 6 (KJV) with a special focus on the latter portion. The Word of the Lord reads:

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.

This portion of scripture comes from the beginning of Apostle Paul’s letter to the people of Colosse. In the midst of him greeting the Colossians with the love of Christ, he makes a statement that sticks with me greatly: “the grace of God in truth.” From this, the blessing the Lord dropped into my spirit was: “God’s grace is so precious because it is rooted in truth.” Aren’t you glad that grace is grounded in nothing else? Thank God His grace is not rooted in whim, hearsay, man, or rumors. Truth is so awesome, because it is solid — reflective of God’s unchanging nature. Truth was here yesterday. Truth is here today, and truth will be here tomorrow. God’s Word is truth. It was here yesterday. It is here today, and it will be here tomorrow. Praise the Lord that He decided to plant grace in truth!

Have a blessed day!
