“12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” ~ Philippians 3:12 — 15 (KJV)
We first and foremost come to You giving You all the praise, glory, and honor as the one and only true and living God. We thank You for salvation — sending Your Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we can have eternal life with You in heaven. Please forgive us of our sins, and we thank You in advance for helping us to overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings.
Lord, we come with a special prayer today thanking You for reminding us that we are never done growing in You. May we see it not as a chore but as a privilege to continue learning more about You with each passing day. Father, we thank You also for reminding us to not let the faults of our past hinder our future and our relationship with You. When we accept Your forgiveness, may we practice the art of truly forgetting as so expressly exemplified by Apostle Paul — not simply choosing not to remember the wrong we did but choosing not to commit that wrong again. And once we have freed ourselves of the burden of guilt and binds of sin by way of Your grace and mercy, may we press towards the mark of Your high calling by actively leading our lives according to Your Word.
It is in the magnificent name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that we pray. Amen.
