Today’s Prayer Challenge: Using the Sword of the Spirit to be a Proactive Christian

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” ~ Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)

Dear Lord,

We first and foremost come to You giving You all the praise, glory, and honor as the one and only true and living God. We thank You for salvation — sending Your Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we can have eternal life with You in heaven. Please forgive us of our sins, and we thank You in advance for helping us to overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings.

Lord, we come with a special prayer today that we will use the sword of the Spirit to make ourselves proactive rather than passive Christians. Out of all of the elements of Your spiritual armor, Your Word — the sword of the Spirit — is the only piece of armor indicated as being one of offensive protection against evil. May we not sit idly by and simply wait to be struck by weapons of the enemy. May we study and fill ourselves with the power of Your Word, so we can strike our enemies before they can even think about lifting a finger to do us harm.

It is in the magnificent name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that we pray. Amen.
