The Armor of God is…What Exactly? Part V: The Helmet of Salvation

Do you have on your helmet of salvation? If we never did it in the past, these past few days have taught us to gird our loins with truth, protect our chests with righteousness, cover our feet with peace, and guard whatever is within our reach with the shield of faith. This brings us to our key text coming out of Ephesians 6:14 — 17 (KJV), and we are going to take a special look at the “a” portion of verse 17. The Word of the Lord reads:

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Though functional throughout the body, The Word of God gives us strategic placement for all of the elements of spiritual armor, and salvation is specially designed to protect our heads. If you are thinking, “God didn’t save our heads. He saved our souls,” you are absolutely correct. Salvation is a matter of the soul. Why, then, is salvation strategically placed over our heads? The answer the Lord dropped into my spirit is that whereas believers know in their hearts that their souls are safe with Christ, sometimes we can allow doubt to creep into our minds — our heads. So, by putting on the helmet of salvation, we are assuring our minds of what we know to be true in our hearts. We are protecting our heads from doubt. Have a blessed day!
