The Armor of God is…What Exactly? Part III: Shoes of Peace

We are now on armor element number three — peace! We have discussed truth as being a part of our support structure for upright posture and standing for Christ,  and yesterday, we learned how righteousness is not only a protector of life but also a reflection of Christian life. Let us now bring our attention to our key text coming out of Ephesians 6:14 — 17 (KJV) focusing special attention on peace. The Word of the Lord reads:

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Though functional throughout the body, the Word of God gives us strategic placement for all of the elements of spiritual armor, and peace is specially designed to cover the feet. Now I must be honest and say that I wondered, “Hmmm why wouldn’t God place the armor of peace over our heads for peace of mind? Why wouldn’t God strategically place peace over mouths or over our eyes?” The answer that the Lord dropped into my spirit is that the armor of God is not always just for our individual protection. It is also to protect those around us — in this case, from anxiety and chaos. Though we cannot literally lift anxiety off of people or sweep chaos from around others, we can be the facilitators of peace by not contributing negativity. With the exception of innovations in health technology, for the most part people cannot go anywhere unless their feet take them there. Our feet are in charge of movement. Hence, whereas the Lord fills His children with His peace from head to toe, He also wants us to spread the gospel of His peace wherever we go.
Have a blessed day!
