The Secret to Long Life on Earth Isn’t in a Pill. It’s in the Bible.

Forget all of the diets, pills, rubs, and scrubs that claim to make you live longer. The real secret to a life of longevity lies with the Bible. This brings us to our key text coming out of Ephesians 6:1 — 3 (KJV). The Word of the Lord reads:

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

If we obey and honor our parents, we will increase our days here on earth. It is as simple as that. Somebody put that in an infomercial! It is not a scam, and there’s nothing to lose — except maybe all of those “life enhancing” products. One can only gain. As believers, this scripture is nothing new to us, and it may even seem a bit elementary. The older we get, however, the more we can get to feeling like we are too old for obeying, because we are grown. “Obeying is for children.” Well, God knew we’d bring up that argument, so He included that we should honor our parents, too. In other words, we should still heed the advice and wisdom of our parents even when we are 18 years old and above. If for no other reason, who doesn’t want to live longer?

Have a blessed day!
