Today’s Prayer Challenge: Thanking God In EVERYTHING — Literally

“20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” ~ Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)

Dear Lord,

We first and foremost come to You giving You all the praise, glory, and honor as the one and only true and living God. We thank You for salvation — sending Your Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we can have eternal life with You in heaven. Please forgive us of our sins, and we thank You in advance for helping us to overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings.

Lord, we come with a special prayer today thanking You for EVERYTHING. Father, we are challenging ourselves to not just thank You when times are good and for the big things in our life such as new children born into the family, job promotions, and new cars. May we also show our gratitude to You even when times are bad and for things that seem small like eyes, noses, and ears that function properly. We may see something we don’t like, but we thank You that we can see. There may be a burning scent coming from our vehicle, but at least we have the capability to smell. We may hear bad news every now and then, but at least we can hear. Lord, You have everything under control even when it doesn’t look like it, and we decide today to not let the burdens in life outweigh the blessings You have bestowed upon us.

It is in the magnificent name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that we pray. Amen.
