To those who have wondered why they were born, to those who feel their parents never loved them, to those tired of giving love, because they never see it return, I present to you our key text coming out of Ephesians 1:4 — 6 (KJV). The Word of the Lord reads:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
So you see, even if you feel rejected by people here on earth, you have the love of our Heavenly Father. That carries way more weight than having affection from a fellow creation. It is the difference between having a co-worker pat you on the back versus having your boss pat you on the back. Both are pleasant to experience, but it means more coming from the person running the show. Even though it is nice to have the love of our family and friends, we must remember that God’s love and affection cannot be matched by that of anyone else. Whereas friends and family may or may not love you when you come into their lives, God made a dedicated decision to love you before He even created the earth, and He did not stop there. He took that love to yet another level by desiring that we be His adopted children through Jesus Christ. Now that’s love. Why? Before He created the earth, God already knew humans were going to seriously mess up, and He knew that we would need salvation through His son Jesus. Even after all of that, our Heavenly Father still decided to love us despite our imperfect nature. In the words of Paul, “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
