Our key text for today comes out of Galatians 6:7 — 9 (KJV). The Word of the Lord reads:
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
If we spend most of our time sowing into the desires of the flesh, we will reap corruption. For example, if we put all of our time and effort into doing everything possible to get promoted while demoting God’s rank in our lives, we may get that promotion. It will probably feel good, but life on this earth is short, and nothing we gain while we are here can we take with us when we die. Furthermore, we would have elevated an occupation over Jesus who gave us salvation, and such an action is corrupt. It is not worth putting God — the One who holds our eternity — on the back burner for the sake of gaining earthly wealth or power that will pass away.
If, however, we sow our time into our Heavenly Father, His mission, and the purpose He has called us to, we will 1.) not become corrupt, and 2.) we will reap incorruptible benefits. As the Word of the Lord says in a different passage, we will store up our treasures in heaven where dust nor moths can corrupt. This is important to remember when we feel like non-believers are the ones who always get ahead in life. Grow not weary in well doing. They are getting ahead in this carnal life — not eternal life. Secondly, our key text also reiterates the scripture that says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” Bottom line: sow into God, and He will sow into you.
