“16 This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh….22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” ~ Galatians 5:16, 22 — 25 (KJV)
We first and foremost come to You giving You all the praise, glory, and honor as the one and only true and living God. We thank You for salvation — sending Your Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we can have eternal life with You in heaven. Please forgive us of our sins, and we thank You in advance for helping us to overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings.
Lord, we come with a special prayer today that You will give us the willpower to maintain our spiritual fitness amid the sinfully delicious enticements of society. May we stay dedicated to a routine regimen of spiritual cardio by reading Your Word and exercising our spirits in what we learn. May we also, Father, have a healthy spiritual diet consisting of the fruit of the spirit. As scrumptious as junk food of the flesh can be, Lord, thank You for helping us to understand through Your Word that it is detrimental to our spiritual health and relationship with You. So, Father, we thank You for the strength to “crucify [our] flesh with the affections and lusts” that we may live and walk in Your Spirit.
It is in the magnificent name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that we pray. Amen.
