Since Michael Vick’s dogfighting scandal, he has been touring the nation visiting schools and other organizations to speak out against the recreational crime. Now, Vick is taking his message to the ultimate level — Congress. The Associated Press reports, “Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is taking his anti-dogfighting message to Congress…The football star appeared with officials of the Humane Society of the United States and two sponsors of the legislation, Virginia Democrat Jim Moran and Ohio Democrat Betty Sutton. Pennsylvania Republican Tom Marino of Pennsylvania is the bill’s third co-sponsor.”
On Tuesday, Vick announced at a news conference that he endorses a House bill that will put a damper on organized animal fights by prohibiting attendance. There is also an additional penalty for enabling a minor to attend. According to the Associate Press, “Vick said he wants to teach kids not to get mixed up in animal fights and to take away profits from sponsors of these events.”
