Yesterday, President Barack Obama and his family took a stroll from the White House to a local edifice of worship called St. John’s Church. This particular church is one that has been attended by presidents throughout recent history. The Associate Press reports that “accompanied by his wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia, Obama walked through Lafayette Square to attend the 10:30 morning service at St. John’s Church. Obama wore a dark-colored suit, while the first lady and Malia wore shades of purple and Sasha a floral green and white dress.”
Reportedly, this was not the first time Mr. President attended worship at St. John’s Church. In fact, there is a special row designated as “The President’s Pew” located nine rows from the altar. According to the Associated Press, “Church history claims that every president since James Madison has visited.” Whereas this appears to be true, President Obama does not make St. John’s his only stop. Reports say that he visits other churches within proximity of the White House as well.
