One might think that someone who worked with criminals day in and day out would ever think about having an affair with one, but that was not the case with New Jersey corrections officer Katrina Owens. Aside from the fact that her criminal playmate killed her, the fact that her actual husband is a sergeant in the state Corrections Department makes things even worse.
This 37-year-old woman was shot and killed in Newark by 21-year-old Allen Barron at a barbecue early on Tuesday. Barron then left the scene in Owens’ truck, drove to Richmond, and killed himself. According to New York Post, “Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio [told] the Star-Ledger that Owens was having an affair with the man who killed her.” Reportedly, Owens met Barron when she was serving as a guard at New Jersey Training School during the time Barron was there as a juvenile inmate. In her death, Owens not only leaves behind her husband but also three children.
