As of late, the controversy has been centering around Bishop Eddie Long who recently paid a settlement to avoid going to court over accusations that he sexually abused young men in his church. The spotlight probably is not entirely off of him, but it is alleged that a different crime has gone down in New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, and Long could be called upon to testify.
ChristianPost reports that “Anthony Boyd, who formerly worked at the Atlanta megachurch as a security guard, is accused of breaking into Long’s office on June 12, 2010 and stealing $100,000 worth of jewelry and electronics, including an iPad and iPhone. On [last] Tuesday, he appeared with his lawyer David Fife in court to enter a not guilty plea to the burglary charges.” Fife says that he not only expects the case to go to trial but that Long will be called to the stand. Specifically, Fife told WSB Atlanta, “He’s certainly a witness that would have to be called by somebody. The state or the defense.” Regardless, Boyd is just interested in clearing his name. It should not be long before we hear if he succeeds.
