Montel Williams Selling Pot for Good Cause

by Ayvaunn Penn, Your Black World

Sacramento got a shocking announcement from Montel Williams on Monday. This famed talk show host and entrepreneur will be selling pot in their neighborhood. It turns out that Williams suffers from multiple sclerosis and, ironically, the prescription medications as well. In fact, Williams shared how “prescription drugs nearly shut down [his] kidneys.” Desperately in need for alternative means to deal with his darn-near chronic neurological pain, a doctor told him he should try medical marijuana.

After taking the doctor up on his suggestion, Williams discovered the medical wonders of the otherwise illegal drug. He says that marijuana has improved his health. Now, he wants to share this pain-easing aid by opening a medical marijuana dispensary for patience with medical need. He believes there is something very wrong with medical America being more at ease with giving patients morphine than allowing them access to marijuana for medicinal benefits. Specifically, Williams states, “I can go get morphine pumped into my system and nobody’s got a problem, but all of a sudden they’re really worried if I smoke a joint.” He added that, “while adhering to every single state law, we want to provide safe access for patients and really medicalize this. Patients should be put first.”

Based on what can be seen so far, it looks like Williams means well. He is looking to use the sale of marijuana to fuel healing — not addictions.
