Mystery neighbors are saying a Denver grandmother has gunshots going off in her apartment. Jeannetta Holden, 59 years old and a resident in the same apartment for 30 years, was served with eviction papers based on allegations of gang related activity such as selling drugs and shooting guns.
These papers were served by Gibraltar Property Management — the company overseeing Holden’s apartment complex. Holden maintains that these things are not true saying, “I don’t gang bang. I don’t sell drugs. And I definitely don’t shoot guns. Never owned a gun in my life.”
Holden wrote back to Gibraltar Property Management asking for proof of the charges brought against her, and a manager wrote her back saying that they had received more than one letter about her rowdy behavior and one police report. Based on research done by NBC news, however, it looks like the grandmother of twelve is the one telling the truth. NBC’s investigation did not turn up any police reports concerning illegal activity at Holden’s apartment, and none of the five neighbors they spoke to had any complaints about Holden.
The grandmother just hopes that the eviction will be repealed. All she has to say at this point is “I’ve been here for 30 years. I raised my children here. I’m poor, and I just want to defend myself.”
