It was no secret that Cleveland hated to see LeBron James leave the Cavaliers and join forces with the Miami Heat, but it looks like Josh Kasich — Governor of Ohio — hated LeBron’s move with a little more zeal. Although it cannot be proven, it sure looks like Kasich used all of his political might to deal James the greatest blow he could.
There is no problem with the Ohio governor issuing a resolution congratulating the Mavericks on winning the NBA Championship while lauding their “loyalty, integrity, and teamwork.” It is the honorable thing to do, but was it really necessary for Kasich to name the Mavericks honorary Ohioans without even mentioning James? According to the Associate Press, “the resolution singles out MVP Dirk Nowitzki for choosing to re-sign with the Mavericks and forego free agency in the summer of 2010, ‘thus remaining loyal to the team, city, and fans for whom he played his entire career.'”
Obviously, this statement is a jab at James since he made a totally opposite decision when he left the Cleveland team. Kasich also said in his resolution that “the proud city of Cleveland and the entire state of Ohio share in the excitement of Dallas Mavericks fans everywhere.”
