McDonald’s Charging Black Customers Extra Money?

by Ayvaunn Penn, Your Black World

A scandalous photo has been circulating the web over the past weekend causing many McDonald’s customers grievous heartache. The picture shows what looks like a McDonald’s flyer posted in a McDonald’s restaurant window that reads:

“As an insurance measure due in part to a recent string of robberies, African-American customers are now required to pay an additional fee of $1.50 per transaction.”

According to Gawker, “people tweeted and retweeted the photo, using the words ‘Seriously McDonalds’ to express their disappointment with the fast-food chain.” McDonald’s wasted no time in defending themselves against this allegedly fabricated photo that has been circulating on Twitter and other social network websites.

McDonald’s tweeted on Saturday, “That pic is a senseless & ignorant hoax McD’s values ALL our customers. Diversity runs deep in our culture on both sides of the counter.” Despite their declaration via Twitter, the picture continues to circulate on the web. Yesterday, McDonald’s addressed their patrons on Twitter once again saying, “That Seriously McDonalds picture is a hoax.” It looks like no matter how much McDonald’s tries to deny the photo and protect their image, the picture will continue to shock those who find it. The company may not make any progress with out taking their defensive claims to other media outlets such as television and radio.

  1. Hi Ms. Penn,

We have the same last name.

I sent you a message asking you is the name Otto Penn familiar to you?

Would you please take a second and answer my question?

    Thank you.

    • Oh, I’m sooo sorry you did not get my last message Mr. Penn.

No, unfortunately, Otto Penn does not sound familiar to me, but Penn is a totally awesome last name! Glad to share it with you.

It is always my pleasure to answer any questions readers have. Take care!
