The mother who was alleged to have microwaved her child to death has been found guilty of aggravated murder in her third trial. China Arnold, 31, is now eligible for the death penalty. Her infant daughter, 28-day-old Paris Talley, is said to have died at the hands of her mother back in August of 2005 in Ohio. The sentencing began back in May at a Dayton, Ohio court.
Prosecutors argued that Arnold placed her baby in the microwave following a dispute with her boyfriend by the name of Terrell Talley. Reportedly, they were arguing over paternity. Arnold tried to tell investigators that she was intoxicated. In the courts, however, that did not appear to bear too much weight. Although the defense tried to argue that this tragic death could have just as easily occurred at the hands of Talley, prosecutors effectively argued that Arnold putting the child in the microwave was more deliberate than killing someone with a knife or gun. According to the Daily Mail Reporter, Assistant Prosecutor Dan Brandt proclaimed in court that “Arnold had to carry the baby over, place her in the microwave, shut the door and press buttons…then…wait while her child cooked to death.” The prosecutors won, and Arnold was found guilty.
